Children's Ministry

Our Vision:
Our goal is to establish a safe place to train the children of Mercy Hill Church to know the God of the Bible, to know His Word, and to stir up a passion for Jesus so they can experience a proven personal faith in Him. Our hope is that they will be a blessing to their family, their community, and their world.
Throughout the New Testament we see that children are held in high esteem by Jesus. As Children's Ministry Directors our desire is to see the children of Mercy Hill experience the wonder and joy of trusting and knowing Jesus. Our aim is to provide a safe place for children to grow in their faith in Jesus, as we teach the truth of God's Word, the power of prayer, and the joy of worship.
Of course, we know children can be wiggly and may not have long attentions spans. So our aim is to teach God’s Word in a way that is exciting, fun, and age appropriate. We are using curriculum developed by Children Desiring God. This curriculum is God-centered, Bible-soaked, and age-appropriate.
We also use crafts, role-playing, fun and safe games, and special activities. Our passion is to help each child learn God’s Word and come to the place where they are trusting Jesus themselves.

Joe and Cindy's Story
The Mercy Hill Children's ministry is overseen by Joe and Cindy Garcia. We have been part of Mercy Hill for the last 16 years. We are incredibly grateful to have a deep history with the people and community of Mercy Hill Church.
We met here while we were both young, single college kids and the Y2K scare was still 8 years away. Actually, Cindy was still in high school and Joe was in college. Time sure flies when you become friends for a few years, lead home groups together, realize she's the one you can't live without, take a job with the local phone company, get married a couple years later, lead another home group together, get Cindy to graduate from San Jose State so she can teach, have 2 kids, lead even more home groups together, and come to the realization that God is calling you and your wife to help lead children and their families to passionate, contagious relationship with Jesus Christ! Isn't that always how it is?
We are both excited to join with the people of Mercy Hill Church as we seek God to lovingly and joyfully share the good news of the Gospel with the families of MHC and our surrounding community.
