How You Can Serve
Just as a physical body has different parts gifted to fulfill different functions, so Jesus puts his followers together into communities where each individual is gifted to fulfill different functions.
Of course there are some functions that Jesus has for all of us – like encouraging the faith of other believers, and seeking to help people come to know Jesus. But in addition to this, Jesus has more specialized ministries which he gifts us for and through which he gives us much joy.
We like to call this “every-member ministry” – because every follower of Jesus has the joy and the gifts to be involved in some ministry.
So what are some ministries you could pursue?
What a joy it is to hold babies and teach little ones about Jesus! The children’s ministry workers will serve during the entire morning service one Sunday every five weeks. We will train you so you know what do to, and you will be part of a team of workers in a classroom. Don’t miss this opportunity to give to our children and receive from Jesus. If you would like to learn more, contact Joe and Cindy Garcia, our children’s ministry overseers
Sermon Editing Team
Each Sunday the sermon is recorded, edited, and uploaded to the web site. If you have some technical savvy, and some time during the week, contact Donl Mathis (The Guru of Sound).
This team sets up the video and screen Sunday mornings before service, and projects the worship lyrics, announcements, PowerPoint, and various videos Sunday mornings. If you are interested, please contact Joe Garcia (the Maestro of Video).
Set-up and Take-Down Crew
These are the true heroes of Mercy Hill Church. We have a crew of faithful servants who arrive Sundays at 8 AM to set-up and stay after to take-down all our equipment. Some of the crew do this every Sunday, others take one Sunday a month. All help is deeply appreciated. If you would like more information, contact Jerry Shipp (the Sultan of Set-up).
The sound team sets up the sound equipment, fine-tunes everything, runs the sound board, and takes down the sound equipment on rotating Sundays. Sound guys and girls need to have an ear for music, and some technical savvy; we will gladly train you. If you’re interested, let Donl Mathis know.
The worship team leads the church in worshiping Jesus Christ Sunday mornings. Vital for this ministry is passion for the glory of Jesus, and some level of musical skill. If you are interested, contact Dave Clark.
Once a year a Mercy Hill team goes to Morocco to show Jesus’ love by clearing rubble and rebuilding earthquake-damaged homes. We will train you and help you raise the funds needed. If you are interested, contact Jerry Shipp.
